The Chair Committee Instructions
Chair Committee: The chair is one of the most important roles for a good Model UN experience. A poorly run committee can result in a poor experience for the delegates.
.) The Committee must know every subject the delegates bring two times better. After the delegates come up with the solution for their problem the committee will check it to see if it makes sense.
.) The committee is responsible to ask the people who haven't spoken to speak at the end or no credit will be given.
.) If another starts to speak while you are speaking it is rude to raise your voice or bang the table.
.) Being the committee chair you must look out to see if a delegate has already prepared something to say. If it not in the delegates own words, this is considered to be plagiarism.
.) As chair, you must not be afraid to cut someone off if you're running out of time and need to move to the next topic.
.) Write everybody's name taking place in the debate and every time they talk make a small tally next to their name, this way you can keep track of who is talking and who isn't. The people who aren't talking will have to refer back to step #2.
.)To run the debate you must always be enthusiastic about the topics to show you are deep in the debate.
.) If the Delegates are giving stale answers to questions, bring up a crisis and have an enthusiastic guest speaker answer.
.) Remember, you are in charge and your actions will guide how well the committee does at suggesting ways to solve real world problems.
